Through Our Lens is a digital campaign highlighting Black Student's experiences at PWIs. It also serves as a platform for Black students to foster a sense of belonging within one another and bring attention to the injustices and microaggressions students of color face in their pursuit of higher education.

1. The Problem
Black students have trouble finding a sense of belonging at PWIs due to, Lack of Representation, Stereotypes and Microagressions, Culture Shocks, Limited Engagement, and Isolation.
State elimination of DEI initiatives shut down UF’s Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement, removing a safe space for minority students on campus.
2. The Idea
A digital campaign on Instagram for Black students to share their experiences attending a PWIs, with a goal to show the state of Florida that while they may be able to limit our spaces and programs;
We are here, we belong, and we will continue to take up space.



3. Interviews
I interviewed and surveyed Black students, some anonymously, about their experience being Black at PWIs, with many offering to be photographed.
3. Launch
I combined the audio recorded from the interviews with the portraits and branded elements to make Reels on Instagram. The account reached 100+ Black students on campus, while sharing the stories and experiences of those involved.
